We just had a new well drilled this past week and oh did the boys have fun watching. It went right in the flower bed outside my kitchen window, so I cleaned out the sink and they had the perfect seat to watch every move the guys made.

They drilled the well last Friday and then came back to hook it up on Tuesday. When they started digging on Tuesday, they discovered that the old well pit was right next to where they just dug the new well. You can see in the picture the cinder block walls of the old well pit and then the new PVC well pipe sticking up just behind it.

This is what it looked like after they knocked down the last wall of the well pit.
They wanted to make sure the cinder blocks didn't hurt the new pipes that they were laying, so they only buried about half of the cinder blocks, which meant a big pile of cinder blocks (all the dirt underneath the blocks) that had to get moved. I was going to let Calvin take care of these, but Ben couldn't wait. So, during Kyle's nap, we hooked up the yard cart to the lawn mower and hauled the good cinder blocks to the shed and the bad ones to the woods. Then all the extra dirt went into the hole. Ben had a blast!
